His ambition to own a sports car drove him to invest in a ChipsAway franchise, which gave him the opportunity to work with cars and earn enough money to enjoy an excellent standard of living.

He said: “Everyone owns a car, which meant there was a massive marketplace, and the idea of working on cars for a living really appealed to me.”

ChipsAway is a leading provider of minor automotive paintwork repairs. Franchisees operate from fully equipped mobile workshops, repairing car paintwork quickly, conveniently and cost effectively.

Within months of launching his franchise, Mr Darby confirms that he was earning the same level of income he had when in the Forces. Today he says he makes substantially more, and now has three ChipsAway vehicles on the road.

“I enjoyed being a soldier, but now that I’m my own boss, my business is going well and I can afford the good things in life,” he added.
