Since joining the network in 2001 she has built a successful management franchise, with two members of staff and three vehicles on the road.

Ms Parker, a former senior manager with a leading courier firm, said: “The business model looked very simple to learn and the investment was affordable, so I decided to go for it.”

Starting out as an owner operator she soon found herself unable to cope alone with the growing demand for her services. In 2004 she put a second vehicle on the road and took on her first employee.

She said: “My ambition from the start was to develop the business into a management franchise and it has worked out really well. I’m now thinking about expanding into yet another area. I’m not complacent but I am confident about the future and looking forward to taking my business to the next stage.”
