IRONICALLY, one business that has not felt the heat during the recession is domestic oven cleaning franchise Ovenclean.
CEO Julian Minwalla said: “Cleaning the oven is top of the ‘most hated chores’ list. Every householder, school or hotel has an oven, and these need to be cleaned regularly, which creates a huge potential market for Ovenclean.”
In spite of the credit crunch franchisees say new work is continuing to flow in and business is booming.
Newcomer Mark Jerram, who was made redundant from Waterstones, launched his business a few weeks ago and is already inundated with work.
He said: “Although an oven clean is a luxury, it doesn’t appear to be one that people are prepared to do without.”
The company is receiving enquiries from people from all walks of life, many of whom have either lost their jobs or are worried about their future.
Mr Minwalla added: “As a franchise, we can offer a proven business model with full training and continued support, plus an environmentally friendly cleaning system, and an established brand.”
