HOME owners, who have suffered probably more than any other sector during the recession can cut the costs of selling their home, by following the American example of selling privately.
The result has been steady growth in the online For Sale By Owner (FSBO) property market, which is creating fresh opportunities for prospective franchisees.
Launched earlier this year FSBO web site Usforhomes.com is looking for professional people to join their growing franchise network. The company, which allows property vendors and landlords to save on estate agency fees, provides franchisees with additional sources of revenue through advertising and other property-related transactions, such as Home Information Packs (HIPs).
According to Usforhomes.com, 90 per cent of properties are initially sourced on the internet. Their customers' properties are also automatically uploaded to prime property portals that include Fish4, Home.co.uk, and Homesinstore, providing scope for over six million monthly property searches and catering for a full range of properties, from affordable low cost homes to elegant manor houses.
When their personal circumstances changed this year Paul and Ann Walker had to relocate, which meant selling their home.
Mr Walker said: "Due to previous bad experiences with estate agents we decided to look at selling privately and came across Usforhomes.com, which offered the facility to sell our house direct and save thousands of pounds. We thought we would need to enlist the services of our daughter to register our house details on the website, but were surprised to see how easy it was. The whole process took us just 25 minutes, and we were so excited to see our home on the internet and to be able to track how many people were showing interest on an almost daily basis."
Candidates looking to join the Usforhomes franchise network must be entrepreneurial and committed to developing and marketing their own
territory. Full training and support are provided, and the business can be run on a part time or full time basis, from home, with flexible hours that will fit in around other commitments.
