LEATHER cleaning and repair specialist Furniture Clinic has just started taking on apprentices; a move that has been welcomed by its franchisees.
The company, based in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, says the aim is to help youngsters who want to learn new skills and to boost the long term success and growth of its franchise network.
Managing director, Keith Staerck said: “We want to improve the chances of young people in our local area by training them to become fully qualified in upholstery and leather repair, and gain NVQs in the process.”
Once qualified, they will be able to help with training, providing cover for holidays or sickness, or in some cases, be taken on as staff by Furniture Clinic’s franchisees.
Training manager Craig Stevenson added: “We hope each new apprentice will stay within Furniture Clinic and continue their development within the company. When a franchise needs to recruit staff, one of our apprentices could be the ideal candidate.”
The company is expanding its network and looking to recruit franchisees nationwide.
