Mr Hedigan, who covers the Slough and Maidenhead area, originally moved to the UK from Ireland four years ago and had been working in the steel frame construction industry before the recession struck.

He said: “I'd had some experience in hotel management, and decided the time was right to start working for myself, doing something that would get me out and about and dealing with people.” 

His plans originally involved running a coffee franchise, but things changed when he discovered the Smart ABC business opportunity. Having got his business got off to a strong start, customer demand has resulted in him working seven days a week.

A lot of the work comes in via recommendations and Mr Hedigan has also forged links with a number of garages in his area, which he plans to increase by the end of his first year in business.

He added: “My goal will then be to take on a second area. There is a lot of work to be done, and I really enjoy getting out and about, and meeting people.”
