Today he runs an Oscar pet foods franchise in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

“I had reached a point of no return in my career and it was time to take control of my future. I also liked the idea of starting my own business with the support of an established franchisor,” he said.

Recognising pet care as a growing market, he was drawn to Oscar and its high quality product range. He carried out his own research into the company and spent time talking to some of their current franchisees.

“I have a good lifestyle, being my own boss and working hours to suit me, and running a business that I enjoy,” he said.

Having gained a pet food nutritional advisor qualification, Mr Kelly gives talks on pet nutrition to local dog training classes, and acts as a volunteer for a Jerry Green Dog Rescue Centre in Thirsk.

“Carrying out home checks for rescue dogs, with a follow up visit, is my way of introducing new people to Oscar,” he said.
