TAB RECRUITS FIRST DOZEN FRANCHISEES

Wednesday 13th April 2011

The Alternative Board (TAB), the peer-support and business coaching organisation, has set up a UK training centre. It is the first such centre to be established outside the United States.

The move follows TAB’s success in reaching its 2011 target of 12 UK  franchisees  ahead of schedule and means that new franchisees and facilitators can be trained at the organisation’s Harrogate HQ, rather than have to travel to the US.

TAB, which was launched in the UK in June 2009, is in the process of setting up a national network of franchisees to provide coaching and advisory support for the owners of small and medium-sized businesses.

Martin Allison, Chairman of TAB (UK), said: “our goal  was to appoint 12 franchisees by our second anniversary in June.  So we are absolutely delighted to have got there ahead of schedule – particularly in the current tough economic climate.”

In addition to its  Yorkshire and East Midlands operations – TAB has now added franchisees in Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Southampton, Mid-Cheshire, Edinburgh/Fife, Cambridge and Stoke on Trent.

“We also have three TAB boards set up in the East Midlands, so we are now represented across the UK, from Scotland to the Solent and from the west coast to the east coast,” Mr Allison added.

The Alternative Board has been operating successfully in the US and Canada for the past 20 years; it has worked with more than 13,000 business owners, helping them to achieve their personal goals as well as improve the performance of their businesses.

The organisation provides entrepreneurs and owners of small to medium-sized businesses with access to valuable board-level advice at an affordable price.

Paul Dickinson, Managing Director of TAB (UK), explained: “Our real point of difference is that we combine hard-won practical experience from like-minded board members with individual coaching and sophisticated online business analysis tools – all focussed on helping business owners to get what they really want from business and from life.

“This access to multi-disciplinary experience makes the TAB model ideally suited to the current tough economic environment.  Owner-managers can benefit from meeting with their peers to share experiences and receive unbiased counselling on the challenging business issues they face – the sort of advice they are unlikely to find anywhere else!”

TAB members all belong to local peer advisory boards which meet monthly; each member brings his or her unique skill set to the table and all are carefully vetted and selected from similar size companies.
