LEADING franchise Autosmart lived up to its reputation as it polished off the competition and shone as the Gold winner in the 2012 bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year awards, supported by Express Newspapers.
Following a rigorous judging process, the leading vehicle cleaning product specialist was presented with the prestigious Gold Award at a glittering ceremony held at the Telford International Centre last Thursday (June 21).
Receiving the award, managing director Sophie Atkinson said: “Winning Gold in the bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Awards provides fantastic motivation for our staff and franchisees who have all worked so hard over the past year to put us in this position.
“We have been franchising for more than three decades and are committed to adapting and changing our business model to meet the needs of franchisees, customers and the auto industry to provide the highest quality products and services whilst continuing to build on the efficiency of the business.”
The largest manufacturer and supplier of professional vehicle cleaning products to the automotive trade in the UK, the company was awarded the top title for its commitment to investing in research and development in order to diversify its product offerings and cut costs. This has resulted in Autosmart saving its customers 30 per cent in costs while achieving record sales of £37.2 million, and maintaining the quality of its products.
Other winners on the night included care provider Home Instead Senior Care, which was presented with the Silver Award, and transport and logistics recruitment company Driver Hire, which won the Bronze award.
The HSBC Franchisee Support Award went to cost and purchase management consultancy Auditel, while mobile coffee provider Cafe2U received the Express Newspapers Brand Builder award.
Against a backdrop of economic turmoil, the last 12 months have been tremendously challenging for all businesses, yet once again, the UK franchising industry has demonstrated remarkable resilience, underpinned by the drive and determination of these high calibre franchisors.
Brian Smart, Director General of the bfa, praised the successful franchisors, describing them as the most enterprising, ethical franchisors in the UK today, regardless of business sector or size.
He said: “Congratulations go to all our exceptional winners. The judging panel was presented with outstanding examples of fresh thinking, brand development and franchisee support, confirming that it has been another great and innovative year in UK franchising.
“The Awards, which are now in their 23rd year, continue to inspire the next generation of franchisors and franchisees by highlighting the success and best practice driving our industry.”
