The hydraulic hoses and fittings specialist is a finalist in the 2009 bfa Franchisor of the Year Awards, which take place on Thursday (June 18).

Business development director Alistair Wiggins said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted and see it as a benchmark of our good franchising practice.”

With 46 per cent of its business in the construction markets, the company has been exposed to the full force of the recession. However, Pirtek, which has more than 90 franchises operating in the UK and Ireland, has focused on developing its intensive sales and marketing programme in order to grow and maintain profitability.
